Haydn Creation – the words

ARCANGEL RAPHAEL: Im Anfange schuf Gott Himmel und Erde; und die Erde war ohne Form und leer; und Finsternis war auf der Fläche der Tiefe.

In the beginning God created the heaven, and the earth; and the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.  

CHORUS: Und der Geist Gottes schwebte auf der Fläche der Wasser und Gott sprach: Es werde Licht, und es ward Licht.

And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said: Let there be light, and there was light.  

ARCANGEL URIEL:
Und Gott sah das Licht, daß es gut war; und Gott schied das Licht von der Finsternis.

And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.
